Let the thickness (or the depth) of the shown figure = t

Total surface area =
         = [tex]2 \frac{1}{4} * 4 \frac{3}{4} + 3 \frac{1}{3} * ( 6 - 2 \frac{1}{4} )[/tex]
         = 10.6875 + 12.5
         = 23.1875
