Energy is released from atoms in the form of light when electrons

Hi, electrons when struck with electricity get "excited" and they jump up from a normal level to a higher energy level. On the electrons descent back to a normal level, Light is emitted. This process happens many times, which is why lights can flicker or you see them last a long time.
