One of the major functions performed by the Federal Reserve district banks is Holdings. Federal Reserve has 12 districts through out the U.S to carry out their function. The holdings function means they have to hold an amount of commercial banks money for reserve. Besides holding, Federal Reserve districts also do 4 other primary functions.
