Jambatan pulau pinang perlu dibina karena jembatan ini sangat penting untuk menghubungkan Pulau penang and seberang prai di daratan Malaysia.
Biasanya, jambatan ini dipakai untuk proses distribusi perdagangan yang singgah di area Asia Tenggara
