5(2x - 14) + 23 = 7x - 14
10x - 70 + 23 = 7x - 14
Combine like terms
10x - 47 = 7x - 14
subtract 7x from both sides
3x - 47 = -14
add 47 to both sides
3x = 33
divide both sides by 3
x = 11
