Replace every x with -3. Then simplify the left side.

(x-5)(x-7) < 0

(-3-5)(-3-7) < 0

(-8)*(-10) < 0

80 < 0 ... this statement is false, 80 is not smaller than 0

(x-5)(x-7) < 0  is false when x = -3
