If you want to find x first, you would have to do:
8x-5=-29
8x-5+5=-29+5
I added 5 to both sides so i can leave 8x by itself. Now by simplifying:
8x=-24
8x/8=-24/8
I divided both sides by 8 so I can leave x by itself to get the answer:
